Ectopic Premolar Tooth in the Sigmoid Notch
نویسندگان
چکیده
Impaction of a mandibular premolar is relatively uncommon. Ectopic placement is more unusual and there has been no discussion in the literature of an ectopic mandibular premolar in the coronoid process. In this case report, we present an impacted ectopic mandibular permanent premolar in the sigmoid notch (incisura mandibulae) region. Etiology of the tooth and treatment options are discussed and illustrated by Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images.

The aim of this article is to discuss the etiology as well as treatment options and diagnostic imaging techniques. METHODS A PubMed and Medline search of the literature from 1965 to 2015 to ectopic third molars in the mandibular notch was performed. Fur...
متن کاملSurgical Management of Ectopic Third Molar in the Mandibular Sub condylar Region without a Pathological Cause: A Case Report
Ectopic third molar teeth are those that are impacted in unusual positions or that have been displaced and are at a distance from their normal anatomic location [1]. It is common have to ectopic eruption of a tooth within the oral cavity but rare in other sites of the jaw [2]. Reports are present with teeth eruption in the nasal septum, ascending ramus of mandible, mandibular condyle, and lower...
متن کاملEctopic Location of Permanent Tooth Germ Accompanied by Infraocclusion of Primary Second Molar
We report the delayed eruption and infraocclusion of a mandibular second primary molar with ectopic location of the permanent successor. This was a rare case where the second premolar was located to the distal side of the impacted mandibular second primary molar. Early intervention is recommended to manage orofacial disfigurement and prevent consequent problems.
متن کاملThe Endoscopic Removal of a Nasally Ectopic Premolar Tooth
Nasally ectopic teeth are rare, but can be a source of significant morbidity. Symptoms can include facial pain, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, fungal rhinitis, persistent rhinorrhea and episodic epistaxis. A nasally ectopic tooth should be considered as a differential diagnosis for a radiopaque lesion within the nasal cavity. This case illustrates the diagnosis and subsequent minimally traumati...
